About  the  Artist:

 Donna M. Seager

As an educator for over forty years, I  taught and counseled students from elementary age through college age.  At age seventy-one , I began a new career as a painter of oils, acrylics, and watercolors.  Painting has become my passion.

Two years ago I began to study art under Cliff Oviatt and Terry Willis, local artists in Carbon County, Utah.  I was also fortunate enough to be able to consult with Clark Bronson, a wildlife watercolorist and sculptor from Sanpete County,Utah as well as Sandra Johnson. artist from Mt. Pleasant, Utah.  For the most part, I am a self-taught artist researching and using painting techniques of a variety of artists.

I enjoy capturing the beauty of nature that God has provided us as inhabitants of the earth.  Floral settings and individual florals are some of my favorite subjects along with western landscapes, landmarks and scenes.

The spacious beauty of Utah’s southeastern region has a special spot in my heart.  When I was a young child of five or six,  it was my thinking as I looked around at the red cliffs and massive multi-colored rock walls,  slot canyons and red, mud- ladened rivers  of this  area that surely God must live here.

From my early years of traveling to this spectacular region with my father, I have been drawn to the red sandstone edifaces and spires of Canyonlands, San Rafael, Grand county, Castle Country and Monument Valley.  For many years I have wanted to put to canvas these images I have had in my mind.  It is a great feeling to capture in some small way God’s handiwork.
